The story begins at the Hayate Way Ninja Academy, where three unconventional pupils—Yousuke Shiina, Nanami Nono, and Kouta Bitou—are given rigorous training by their sensei, Mugensai Hinata. During the graduation ceremony for their peers, the ceremony is violently interrupted when the Space Ninja Group Jakanja infiltrates the school, killing most of the students. The three survivors are recruited as the legendary Hurricanegers to fight Jakanja, with Mugensai, who turned himself into a hamster to evade his pursuers, and his inventor daughter Oboro Hinata providing support from the shadows.
