Turning the printer off but leaving it plugged into the power source and computer via USB.
After resetting with V3800, always print an EEPROM information page (by clicking "EEPROM" in the tool). Check the "Dd" value (Absorber counter). It should read 0.0 to 0.3. If it says 0.0, you succeeded.

| Error Code | Meaning | Solution | |------------|---------|----------| | | The Service Tool does not support the requested operation | The tool version does not support that specific function for your printer model. Try a different version or ignore if the main reset worked. | | 005 | Service Tool cannot detect the printer | Check USB connection, re-enter Service Mode, wait for the power LED to stop flashing before running the tool. | | 006 | Printer is not in Service Mode OR the tool does not support this printer | Re-enter Service Mode carefully. If error persists, the tool is incompatible with your model. | | 007/009 | Multiple errors preventing Service Mode entry | Resolve other issues first (e.g., low ink, paper jams, hardware failures) before attempting service mode operations. |
Resetting the digital counter does not magically empty the physical sponge inside your printer. If you reset the counter multiple times without cleaning or replacing the physical waste ink pads, ink will eventually leak out of the bottom of the machine, ruining your desk or flooring.
: Unplug the USB cable, restart the PC, put the printer back into Service Mode precisely, and try a different USB port. Error Code 005
