The printer does not have a physical sensor to detect how full these pads actually are. Instead, it relies on an internal electronic counter (the Waste Ink Pad Counter) that estimates ink consumption. The Epson Adjustment Program is not a single, universal application. Different models require specific versions. For the L3111 and its related family (L1110, L3100, L3150, etc.), the most commonly referenced versions are Ver.1.0.2 and the slightly newer Ver.1.0.3. While both versions will likely work, it's best to use the most up-to-date one to ensure compatibility with your printer's firmware. Ver.1.0.3 (build 6528) is known to include support for a wider array of models and may have better compatibility with newer firmware updates from Epson.
This occurs when the computer cannot communicate with the printer. Double-check your USB cable connection and ensure it is firmly connected to both the printer and your computer.
