While mainstream Sunni orthodoxy (Ash'ari and Maturidi schools) affirms divine attributes without modality ( bila kayf ), the Jahmiyyah denied the very existence of attributes, claiming they implied anthropomorphism ( tashbih ). Ibn Taymiyyah argued that the Jahmiyyah, while claiming to defend God’s transcendence, actually fell into a deeper error: ( ta'til ).
