Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, on June 2, 1970, Riggen began her career in journalism and documentary writing in Mexico before moving to New York to earn a Master’s degree in film directing and screenwriting from the prestigious Columbia University. While at Columbia, she directed award-winning short films that honed her skills and prepared her for her feature film debut.
