The film begins with paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) taking possession of the Annabelle doll [2]. Recognizing the intense demonic energy attached to it, they transport the doll to their home. To contain the evil, they lock Annabelle inside a secure, sacred glass case in their artifacts room, blessed by a priest.
