Never unfold a model in a T-pose — the stiff, arms-out pose used as a default in 3D modeling. T-posed figures look amateurish, are difficult to display attractively, and fail to capture the dynamic energy of anime characters. Similarly, ensure any model you plan to unfold has been properly reduced to a low-polygon count — overly complex meshes with too many polygons cannot be successfully converted into papercraft.
