The film centers on Dr. Dharmadurai (Vijay Sethupathi), an MBBS graduate who has fallen from grace to become the village drunkard. His behavior is a constant source of embarrassment to his brothers, who run a chit-fund business and often lock him up in a cellar. Only his mother, Pandiyamma (Radhika Sarathkumar), and his friend Anbuselvi (Aishwarya Rajesh) stand by him.
